JOB SUMMARY: Continuously seeking experienced, dependable and empathetic ophthalmic technician at our multi-specialty organization. This individual is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of patients through the initial interview until their discharge from the clinic. Daily travel to one of 3 conveniently located clinics (Springfield, Lankenau Hosp, and Paoli Hosp) will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patient work up appropriate to physician orders or office protocol
- Accurate collection and recording of patient medical history via practice EMR
- With supervision of physician, perform a variety of preliminary ocular assessments and diagnostic testing
- Perform patient refraction and intraocular pressure check
- Instill dilating, and other, ocular drops as instructed by physician
- Participate in efficient patient flow throughout visit
- Assisting physicians with in-office procedures and minor surgeries
- Ensures clinic rooms are clean and stocked appropriately
- Interact with fellow employees, patients, and physicians in a respectful, professional manner.
- Assist in triaging patient concerns via phone calls, schedule appointments, verifying insurances.
- Must be flexible and adaptable when schedules or job responsibilities may be changed
- Other duties as assigned from time to time
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- EMR experience required
- Basic understanding of third party insurance and their requirements
- Perform, or willing to be trained on, a variety of ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including but not limited to: Optic nerve and Macula OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photography, Topography, Pachymetry, FA/ICG, Optos, Diopsys, IOL Master.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment
- Willingness to travel to multiple office locations based upon a weekly schedule
- Adhere to HIPAA and all other compliance guidelines
- Certification desired but not necessary
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Shift: Day-Hours may vary
- Pay Rate: commensurate with experience. Paychecks are issued bi-weekly
- Dress Code: medical scrubs (navy blue, black, pewter)
