Position Title: Product Manager

Report to: Development Strategy and Operations Director
Position Summary: The Product Manager is a strategic and dynamic professional responsible for the oversight of the packaging of international aid and engagement inventory, in alignment with supply from International Programs Group and constituent demand as determined by Development leaders. The packaging may include cash grants, material aid, Box of Joy®, food packing events, and other offerings. The role spans across many activities from strategic to tactical thinking and execution and provides important cross-functional leadership. The Product Manager will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between various functional teams, including International Programs Group, MarComm, Fundraising and Operational Support teams.
Educational or Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years in product development/management or project management preferred
Non-Profit experience is a plus
Experience in basic financial analysis (cost-effectiveness, cost-benefit, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Detail-oriented, analytical, self-motivated, and comfortable with complex concepts
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust focus and workflow based on changing deadlines and needs
Strong project and process management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Solid understanding of reporting and budgeting procedures

Job Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Requirements Specification:
This position provides deep product expertise needed to make strategic decisions and recommendations.
Drive the execution of all processes in the product lifecycle, including product and market research, peer analysis, planning, positioning, requirements, roadmap development, and product launch.
Create product strategy documents that describe fundraising affinity and demand, technical requirements, revenue projections, and ROI.
Appraise new product ideas based on donor affinity and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans.
Propose strategies for migrating designated products to undesignated ones and work with key stakeholders in the development of new undesignated fundraising opportunities.
Conducts and stays up to date with market and peer organization conditions, laying out a product vision that is differentiated and delivers unique value
Product Development and Management:
Represent MarComm and Development with all new funding opportunities and ensure that systems are set up and triggered for funding. Manage all un-budgeted projects.
Work with Fundraising and MarComm leadership to analyze donor needs, current market trends, and potential product offerings from an ROI perspective.
Ensure that average cost and price point methodology (provided by IPG) for all fundraising opportunity are communicated to MarComm and Development teams, as well as schedule for updates.
Assimilate budgets to represent the full scope of the packages/products open to fundraising.
Align multi-year campaigns with Development/MarComm teams. Create new protocols and systems to facilitate multi-year funding.
Ensure that Zengine contains all the “inventory” of products to include cash aid and material aid as well as any other programming.
Coalesce key timelines across multiple departments to ensure product management is coordinated.
Assess set product lines of responsibility, create an annual plan, and prioritize developments in a combination of customer needs, coverage gaps and competitive advantage.
Manage disclosures and disclaimers for all fundraising materials and circumstances.
Coordinate with operational teams in creating funding codes.
Actively manage the lifecycle of new and existing products and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment.
Ensure that reservations are managed, including when proposals need to be developed as determined by the overall Funding Plan.
Product Launch and Promotion:
Prepare for launching a new fiscal year (as it relates to products and programming) by ensuring timelines across multiple departments are in line – Acct, IPG, MarComm and Development teams.
Ensure that Zengine contains all the “inventory” of products for sale including cash grants and material aid as well as any other programming.
- Prepare all new products for market release by completing all key elements necessary to establish a successful launch. The ideal process is to be done once, correct, and complete, by meeting all requirements and releasing the product to all channels at the same time.
Performance Monitoring:
- Manage challenge and match gifts to ensure proper tracking, language, and reporting can be provided to donors.
- Manage the income and supply for campaigns, broadly designated fund codes and individual projects.
- Sunset projects via coordination with frontline and operational teams when a project is canceled, on hold, or funding is not renewed.
- Work closely with IPG to monitor product lifecycles to ensure progress reports and stewardship goals are met.
- Provide reliable information on product lines and lifecycle to our fundraising and marketing teams.
- Continuously monitor and analyze product performance metrics, such as coverage, completeness, and accuracy, and provide recommendations for enhancements.
- Monitor the Development placeholder and ensure that donor needs are met.
- Primary responsible for communicating to the VP of Development as to overperformance/underperformance of product line and recommend solutions.
