Burnett Dairy, also known locally as Cady Cheese, has a great history of cheesemaking going back to early 1900's. Cady is known for its many varieties of longhorn cheeses as well as its small batch specialty cheeses.
Food Safety and Quality are one of the highest priorities for our company. The 2nd Shift Laboratory Technician will fill an essential role in the monitoring and advancement of our food safety and quality programs. Through daily process checks as well as short- and long-term projects. The Quality Control Technician will ensure the integrity of all products produced by Burnett Dairy, so that our customers can always enjoy our products with full confidence and satisfaction. The Quality Control Technician shall have a scientific base of knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within our company.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the facility Environmental Monitoring Program, tracking and trending results, and communicating issues to plant management.
- Perform water sample collection and testing for analysis.
- Maintain calibration programs, including lab equipment & production areas.
- Assist with raw material release, testing, and movement.
- Perform cGMP, internal, environmental, and equipment audits as required.
- Assist with hold and release program, including physical inventory of hold items.
- Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections of equipment and verification of COP and CIP concentrations.
- Real-time SSOP audits, including employee training and assisting Management in implementing changes to SSOPs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, time management, and attention to details.
Qualifications:
- Basic computer knowledge required, (Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook)
- High level of organizational skills, including written and verbal communication, creative problem solving, positive attitude and commitment to company goals.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of QA/QC activities.
- Ability to work independently with integrity.
Availability:
- Typical hours noon - 8pm, Monday - Friday (a later schedule will be considered)
- Rotating weekends.
- Regular and dependable attendance is required.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of High School Diploma/GED
- Preferably 1-3 years’ experience in food manufacturing QA/QC, and or laboratory experience in the food industry.
- Preferably an Associated Degree or higher in a technical scientific discipline such as Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Dairy Science, Animal Science, or related field.
