Emtech employs robotics technicians in R&D lab spaces to assist in the development and testing of new automation opportunities for warehouses and Amazon fulfillment centers.
Responsibilities
- Level 3: HW Senior Technician
General Description: You would need to perform and/or manage complex tasks. You may initiate, organize, perform, and/or supervise tasks. You may be called on top collect, analyze, and report data. You may be responsible for progress reporting and performance evaluation. They may supervise small teams on defined, (typically already existing) tasks, projects or areas.
Responsibilities: Managing complex tasks within their area of expertise, such as troubleshooting HW faults, assisting in Bring up of work-cells, retrofitting complex parts, understanding basic electrical and more complex mechanical principals, overseeing sophisticated lab equipment operation and maintenance, leading smaller hardware development projects, complex HW assembly, assisting with documentation.
Role: Hardware Specialist with a higher skill level in specific areas, often working independently or leading small groups.
Autonomy: Supervises specific tasks assigned to the greater hardware team.
Character/Experience: Has excellent character, expert in communication, able to work well within a team either as lead or member, and understands and fosters servant-leadership in all aspects of work. Is adept and learns quickly.
Skills Needed: Machining expert, mechanical expert, documentation expert. Experienced in hardware, Knowledgeable in electrical, Familiar with software & coding.
Documentation: Generate and/or supervise the generation of training docs and SOP's.
Leadership: Small to mid-sized team supervision.
Work Location: Seattle, WA, with occasional travel to other project related sites within WA.

Important aspects to consider:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of hardware, electrical systems, and basic mechanical principles. Ideally, with robotic systems, but could be other systems/areas as well.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently. Should have an established method or system of troubleshooting with examples of implementation.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting tasks. Quality control touches every aspect of the work that will be done. Must have a good track record of attention to detail.
- Collaboration: Effective teamwork skills, capable of working in a multidisciplinary team environment. Capable of working independently, in collaboration with other team members, or solo with minimal supervision.
- Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written, for technical documentation and team interactions. Previous experience with group messaging platforms (like Slack) and task tracking software (like Asana) are a plus.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing priorities and tasks in a dynamic research environment. Also applies to having a broad base of experience and skills as a big plus to the ideal candidate.
- Project Management: Project management skills sufficient to handle tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Technical Documentation: Ability to create, read, and interpret technical documents, schematics, and diagrams.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols in a lab setting. The ideal candidate would have had experience in a safety controlled environment with a good understanding of safety protocols.
- Continuous Learning: Eagerness to learn and and apply new skills, techniques, or technology.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $44.00 per hour
