Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Aide to join our team. As a Medication Aide, you will be responsible for administering medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Your role is crucial in ensuring the well-being and safety of our patients. Responsibilities:
- Administer medications to patients according to prescribed dosages and schedules
- Document medication administration accurately and timely in medical records
- Monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects from medications
- Assist with physical examinations and other medical procedures as directed by healthcare professionals
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized medication cart or area
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure proper patient care
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program
- Current certification as a Medication Aide in the state of Virginia
- Experience working in an acute care or hospice care setting preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic understanding of common medications
- Familiarity with Cerner or other electronic medical record systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
