Renal Associates of West Michigan, P.C., a leader in providing excellent renal care is looking for a detailed person who a coding specialist / medical biller. Certified coder is preferred but not necessary. Must have medical billing experience. Full time position, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bilingual applicants welcomed to apply. This position is working at the office not remote.
List of Responsibilities/Duties:
- Review medical charts to determine appropriate codes for charges and services incurred to assure maximum reimbursement.
- Coordinate all aspects of professional billing with appropriate physicians/providers.
- Post payments into EHR.
- Screen medical records for diagnosis/procedures.
- Pull medical records from EHR / hospital systems.
- Assist in the audit of medical records in order to document and identify potential problems with the billing and reimbursement process.
- All the billing functions from inputting charges to insurance claim denials.
- Patient collections
- Adhere to all HIPAA, confidentiality and organization policies/rules; including attendance and dress policy.
- Must understand medical terminology and be detailed orientated. Also, have skill in operating computer, fax machine and copier. Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with other team members.
- Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies following billing guidelines
- Process payments from insurance companies and patients
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe. Work A/R
- Utilize medical billing software to input data and generate reports
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information
Skills:
- Proficiency in Epic medical billing systems
- Knowledge of DRG coding, ICD-10 coding standards
- Experience with medical collections and terminology
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and medical records management
