Reports to: Carpenter Foreman
Summary of Responsibilities: Building various wooden, fiberglass, steel, and aluminum forms to support concrete. Supervise assigned personnel as directed by the carpenter foreman and/or superintendent. Operate carpentry hand tools, and perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· General knowledge of company safety program (tools, safety equipment)
· Basic knowledge of carpentry principles, practices, and procedures
· Basic knowledge of construction site format, function, and layout
· General knowledge of carpentry hand tools and power-activated tools
· Own and maintain the following tools: nail apron, hammer, 6’ rule, 25’ tape, chalk box, plumb bb, 2’ hand level, flat bar, nail puller, 9/16” adjustable wrench.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Safely and efficiently construct forms for decks, including but not limited to running scaffold and stingers, laying plywood, cutting plywood, building bulkheads for dividing pours and surrounding the edge of deck, construction ramps, beams, drops, and folds, curbs – all of which eventually tie into deck.
- Safely and efficiently construct forms for columns, including but not limited to building wooden, metal, aluminum or fiberglass forms, which are clamped or banded together and can be constructed before or after the deck is run.
- Safely and efficiently construct forms for walls, including but not limited to framing, setting, and plumbing wooden handset walls, metal handset walls, and metal gang walls.
- Safely and efficiently construct forms for stairs, including but not limited to building forms from wood or prefabricated stair forms, framing landing, and setting pre-cast stairs.
- Assist carpenter foreman with training and orientation of apprentice carpenters and carpenter helpers.
- Attend safety meetings, comply with company safety program and company policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
The physical demands must be met in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the essential functions, the employee is regularly able to lift and carry at least 50+ pounds and possesses sufficient strength, skill, talent, constitution and endurance to perform the functions of the job properly in a reasonable and timely manner.
Work Environment:
Work in outdoor conditions, year-round, at a concrete construction site where noise, vibrations, and hazards commonly associated with this type of work exist.
Preferred Education & Experience:
· Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience
· High school education (or equivalent) preferable and basic knowledge of mathematics
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, or until the job is complete. The employee may work on Saturday/Sunday as necessary.
