As an Index Scrum Master, you will use your expertise in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to cultivate engaged, self-organizing, and high-performing teams. Your primary focus will be guiding your teams to deliver the required product increments and outcomes while continuously fostering Agile values within the team, understanding that true agility goes beyond executing ceremonies and producing artifacts. We seek a servant leader who will inspire and mentor teams to embrace an Agile mindset and adopt Agile practices. You will be coaching and coordinating two small teams that will build a Salesforce CRM for our client at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This position requires enough prior experience with Salesforce systems and their basic structure and components to be conversant with the technical teams.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the Team SAFe ceremonies such as Iteration Planning and Review, Product Refinement Sessions, Team Sync, and Innovation and Planning events.
Effectively use data and monitor team metrics to help assess team capacity, predictability, and maturity.
Track team velocity, throughput, and other key metrics, towards goals and provide documentation such as burn-down charts for weekly and monthly status reports.
Remove roadblocks challenging team members by raising issues to other teams or management as needed.
Ensure that the team has a clear understanding of Definition of Done and how to meet it.
Effectively manage team flow and work-in-progress.
Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to prioritize product backlog items by providing technical insight into the work being requested and identify upstream/downstream dependencies.
Promote regular and open communication across the program and stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress.
Ensure timely progress toward releases, objectives, KPIs, and commitments.
Participate with management and cross-functional teams as subject matter expert to develop and improve operating policies and procedures related to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and be an advocate in adopting Agile and SAFe best practices and processes.
US citizen, or Authorized to Work and lived in the US for 3 of the last 5 years.
Ability to obtain Public Trust level clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline required.
6+ years of professional experience required.
3+ years of experience in a leadership role on Agile development teams required.
Prior experience as a Scrum Master/Team Coach required.
Extensive understanding of SAFe required.
Experience with Salesforce systems required (Salesforce certification is a plus).
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., SAFe Certified Team Coach/Scrum Master) required.
Experienced in writing strong acceptance test driven development criteria.
Expertise with Agile tools like JIRA, Confluence, Slack, etc.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing and explaining technical and project related information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff.
Present critical thinking to analyze issues, evaluate solutions, and ask clarifying questions.
Be detail oriented, flexible, proactive, and multi-task to quickly adapt to changing client priorities and respond to ad hoc requests.
Ability to work with the Product Owner and the product team to manage a continuous product backlog grooming process.
Ability to perform active risk management throughout the development and release lifecycle.
Experience with DevOps processes and tools (familiarity with Copado is a plus).
Demonstrate flexibility in day-to-day work and strong collaboration/teaming skills. The ability to listen and consider input from other team members.
Passion for managing and exceeding customer expectations
Prior experience with CMS or other Federal Government agencies is a plus, especially in the Medicaid ecosystem.
Remote position, Occasional Travel up to 10%
