Laydon Industries, LLC. is known for their Paving, Restoration, and a wide array of Construction projects. As of October of 2023, the company has decided to build a Natural Gas Division focusing on complex construction, including the installation of Regulator Stations, City Gate Stations and Telemetering Stations.
We are looking for a Safety Officer and Natural Gas Technical trainer to help us grow our Gas Division, while keeping all of our crews safe and compliant. Scope of Position:
Safety Officer’s role is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines in a workplace, promoting a safe working environment by advising on safety measures, documenting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measured. Goal is to maintain and enhance a safe workplace while building trust and reaffirming the commitment to employee, health, and safety (EH&S). Responsible for reviewing, updating, developing, and supporting these critical functions, policies and procedures. Role also entails being a natural gas technical trainer for the company’s Gas Operations Division.
Responsibilities -- General Safety and Training:
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to industry standards and best practices.
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Monitor compliance with policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
- Review all daily briefs and hazard analysis forms.
- Inspect job sites to identify possible unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses, and consulting with Human Resources on Workers Compensation claims.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of heavy machinery, roadside traffic control, natural gas division safety and technical training).
- Create and distribute communications on health and safety awareness, issues, trends, and statistics.
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines.
- Utilize professional development opportunities to stay current with safety practices.
- Utilize and maintain the ISNetworld Avetta platform.
- Other duties and projects assigned by Ownership.
Responsibilities -- Natural Gas Technical Training:
- Assist with the set up of the gas operations training room.
- Perform technical training for all gas operations workers.
- Manage employees’ OQs and assign training when needed.
- Ensure OQ compliance.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Minimum 5 years’ proven experience as a Safety Manager/Gas Technical Trainer or similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management or relevant field required.
- Certificate in occupational health and safety required.
- Fully operator qualified (OQ) for gas operations in EWN and NGA.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA guidelines, safety best practices and procedures.
- Deep understanding of health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies.
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to recognize when safety conditions need improvement.
- Good presentation skills.
- Technically savvy and proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel to various job sites as directed.
Working Conditions:
The physical work environment is outdoors, at various job sites, as well as indoors, in an office setting. Physical demands of the position include driving, standing, traversing, carrying inspection equipment, sitting, typing, speaking, operating computers.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
