AM/NS Calvert seeks experienced technicians to support the initial production runs and daily maintenance needs for its new Electric Arc Furnace. The Mechanical Maintenance Specialist, Steelmaking must be able to support engineers in creation of maintenance plans, analysis of production trials, and coordination of daily maintenance and repair activities. Daily activities include: Perform quality review of construction activities pertaining to Mechanical Equipment manufacturing and installation; Support development of Equipment Maintenance Program for an Electric Arc Furnace, Ladle Metallurgy Furnace, Vacuum Tank Degasser, Caster, Material Handling systems, utilities, and associated supporting equipment; Provide technical support for the project management group, from the feasibility study phase to the coordination of the final acceptance tests, ensuring the technical quality, as well as ensuring the correct technical documentation after commissioning or changes; Evaluate equipment bids and purchases for minimum technical standards as set by industry and corporate headquarters; Detect equipment performance and product quality trends and report to engineering team; Observe safety, review accident/incident reports and assist in investigations as required; Coordinate and coach operators and maintenance technicians in maintenance best practices and safety procedures; Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing observation, analysis, and roll-out coordination. Must have two years’ experience in maintenance planning and/or supervision for Electric Arc Furnace and/or related upstream or downstream operations, such as Slab Casting.
