Responsibilities:
- Welding (primarily .045" FCAW) structural steel
- Detailing structural steel-drilling/cutting holes and slots, coping, notching per engineering drawings
- Read and understand engineering drawings for dimensions and tolerances
- Fabricate assemblies per engineering drawings
- Assist other departments as needed for successful completion of projects as assigned by the shop foreman and assistant shop foreman. Additional assigned duties may include but are not limited to assist with piping, wiring, masking, packing, sawing, or sheet metal work.
- Read, identify, and gather components needed for assemblies per the Bill of Materials on engineering drawings
- Ensure assemblies are square and within tolerances per the engineering drawings
- Drill and tap holes
- Insulation installation
- Perform basic mathematical division and multiplication
- Work in a safe manner
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Overtime may be required
Required Experience:
- 5 Years fabricating and building metal structures
- 5 Years reading and interpreting engineering drawings - Must be able to pass a test.
- 5 Years structural welding
- 5 Years structural steel detailing
- General knowledge of structural members (beams, channel, angle, pipe, and tubing)
- Must be able to understand fractions, decimals, and degrees of a circle
- Must have a strong understanding of mechanical systems
- Must be able to pass drug and background screening prior to beginning employment
- Must possess valid driver's license
- Must possess required hand tools (specified during interview)
- Must pass 4 position weld test / drawing reading test prior to employment (performed at the same time as interview)
Desired Experience:
- Pipe fitting and welding
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Welding Certification
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to crouch, bend, kneel, stoop
- Must be able to climb a ladder
