Job Overview:
The Town of Meredith is accepting applications for Full Time Firefighters and Full Time Firefighter Lieutenants. These positions will work 4 days on/4 days off (12 hr/days) from 6am-6pm.
Firefighter Lieutenant Responsibilities:
- Oversee the return to readiness of apparatus, equipment, and stations.
- Conduct accountability roll call and inspect personnel for appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Respond to alarms and direct the route to be taken to incidents.
- Make decision as to the best methods of extinguishing fires and saving lives until relieved of command by a superior officer.
- Direct the laying of hose lines, direction of water streams, required pressure of streams, the placing of ladders, ventilation of buildings, rescuing of persons, administering emergency medical aid, and placing of salvage covers.
- Direct the overhauling and cleaning up of premises after the fire has been extinguished.
- Direct and evaluate personnel in training classes and drill evolutions.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of incidents, training, and injuries.
- Other duties as assigned by Fire Department Leadership.
Supervision Exercised:
Supervises all Firefighters/EMT’s and Interns either directly or subordinate officers. Carries out all supervisory functions in accordance with the Town’s rules, policies, regulations, and applicable laws. May be assigned to work on special assignments which call for special abilities and knowledge attained through experience and training.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and demonstrated experience in firefighting, OR specialized training in firefighting techniques, OR an equivalent combination of experience and education demonstrating the ability to learn and perform the above duties. Associate degree in Fire Science or a related field preferred or 5 years of firefighting experience.
Firefighter II Pro Board Certification or be currently eligible to laterally transfer within the State of New Hampshire and be current/eligible on the State of New Hampshire CPAT list. A Class B Commercial Driver’s License is not a requirement but preferred. Must meet the requirements of Chapter 700 of the Administrative Rules, Part 701.01 Fire Fighter Entrance Requirements. This includes an NFPA 1582 Physical sign off. State certified driver operator with pump required.
Fire Officer I certification and a NH Boaters license are required within 12 months of hire. Basic EMT certification (at a minimum) is required within 18 months of hire.
Pay Range:
$28.11 to $36.92 DOE
