Job description
The Prior Authorization Specialist/Administrative Support Staff’s primary duty is to function as aliaison between the providers, their patients, and insurance companies. In this capacity, the staff member works with insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations/precertificationfor testing. When required, they will schedule appointments for this testing.
The Prior Authorization Specialist/Administrative Support Staff will also play a key role in our front office. The staff member greets patients, checks them in/out, schedules appointments, and has additional duties. They also play a role in patient accounting. Prior Authorization Specialist/Administrative Support Staff member is an important part of the Care Team. A Care Team is defined by Quaker Medical Associates as members of our staff who are involved in pre/post and real time appointment care. Special demands are placed on the Prior Authorization Specialist/Administrative Support Staff. Courtesy, cooperation, and the ability to accomplish many tasks despite many interruptions are just a few of the special demands. Attention to detail, initiative, and good interpersonal skills are also necessary. Because of the urgent nature of medical work, prompt and regular attendance is essential. In summary, the Prior Authorization Specialist/Administrative Support Staff must be diplomatic and business-like when confronted with difficult situations.
