Your Role:
As an Associate Attorney, you will work closely with our clients to understand their estate planning needs and provide them with expert legal guidance. Your responsibilities include:
- Legal Expertise: Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and provide legal counsel on estate planning matters.
- Client Consultations: You will conduct in-depth consultations with clients to understand their individual needs, financial goals, and family dynamics. Based on these insights, you will develop customized estate plans tailored to each client's unique situation.
- Document Review: Your keen eye for detail will be essential in reviewing and updating legal documents to meet the changing needs of clients. You will collaborate with our dedicated staff to ensure the accuracy and completeness of these documents, and to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
- Presenting Educational Seminars and Webinars: You will have the opportunity to share your expertise with the community by conducting public seminars on estate planning topics, educating the public and promoting our legal services.
- Problem-solving: Your role involves thinking creatively and finding innovative solutions to address clients' complex estate planning issues, ensuring that their goals are met.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to deliver comprehensive legal services to clients.
- Continuing Education: Stay updated on changes in estate planning laws and regulations to provide the most current legal advice.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate: You must hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and be licensed to practice law in Vermont.
- Prior estate planning experience not required: While prior experience in estate planning is beneficial, it is not mandatory. We welcome candidates who are enthusiastic about estate planning and willing to learn.
- Highly organized: Estate planning involves managing intricate details, and your exceptional organizational skills will be crucial to ensure that nothing is overlooked.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills: Effective communication is key in estate planning, and your ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and compassionately is essential.
- Exceptional client interaction skills: Building strong client relationships and providing personalized guidance is at the heart of what we do. Your interpersonal skills and empathy will be highly valued.
- Strong computer skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook required: Familiarity with these software tools will facilitate efficient document creation and management, enhancing your productivity in this role.
Availability:
As an Associate Attorney at Unsworth LaPlante, you will typically work from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. However, there may be occasional evening or weekend commitments, such as client events or public seminars, requiring flexibility and dedication to meet our clients' needs.
