Work Hours: 7/8am to 4/5pm day shift with 8 hour minimum. Opportunity for overtime/OT pay and double pay on Sundays (infrequent) as project needs arise. Roughly 25% travel in the southeast region.
Location: Fort Mill, South Carolina
Compensation: Starting at $24-28/hr, increasing with experience and licensure. Overtime/OT pay available. Full time, W2 position.

Job Summary:
The Heavy Truck Mechanic at Summit Drilling plays a crucial role in maintaining day-to-day operations. We are looking for a highly motivated mechanic with keen attention to detail, eager to learn and grow in this role. The position reports to the Shop Foreman and involves the following responsibilities:
Heavy Truck Mechanic Role Responsibilities:
- Use company-provided diagnostic software to identify and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic system issues
- Repair brakes and steering systems
- Replace or repair transmissions and fuel components as necessary
- Address electrical system malfunctions
- Repair, replace, or overhaul engines and engine components
- Repair cooling systems and components, including air conditioners and engine cooling
- Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections
- Utilize mechanics' hand tools and power equipment to disassemble, repair, rebuild, or replace defective parts
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems
- Be available to respond to emergencies during and after regular working hours as directed by the Shop Foreman
- Accurately complete all company forms documenting work performed
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment
Heavy Truck Mechanic Requirements:
- Minimum 1 years of hands on mechanic shop experience
- Minimum 1 year of DOT brake inspection experience
- Passing a background check and drug screening
- Willingness to obtain a CDL license if not already possessed
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Professional working ability in English
- Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. (Summit can provide sponsorship)
- Ability to pass DOT physical
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Heavy Truck Mechanic Preferences:
- Experience with heavy equipment is a plus
- DOT knowledge of brake repair and inspection
- ELD diagnostic experience preferred
- 609 Certification
- Possession of a class “A” CDL driver’s license or willingness to obtain one for test drives
- Completion of Diesel School/Technical School
- ASE Certifications
- Experience with electrical systems
- Willingness to travel 25% (southeast region)
- Prior experience with maintenance software is advantageous
