JOB GOAL: To provide all students with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual probing, growth and to aid in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library sources.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluates, selects and requisitions new library materials.

Assists school staff on the selection of books and other instructional materials.

Inform staff members of newly acquired library materials.

Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials and instructs teachers and students on use of the system.

Arranges for inter-library loan of materials of interest or use to teachers.

Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of library resources.

Promotes appropriate conduct of students using library facilities.

Helps students to develop independent reference work habits and to develop skill in the use of reference materials in relations to planned assignments.

Presents and discusses materials with a class studying a particular topic on the invitation of the teacher.

Participates in curriculum meetings.

Confers with and gives reading guidance to students who have special reading needs or unusual intellectual interests.

Arranges frequently changing book related displays and exhibits likely to interest the library’s patrons.

Prepares and administers the library budget.

Support library paraprofessional(s) in the performance of their duties.

Maintains Library Media Center in a professional looking and inviting manner.

Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
