Position Overview: The Student Success Coordinator is the academic counselor, test coordinator, and registrar of a JCFA campus. This position requires attention to detail, a breadth of knowledge of Louisiana’s graduation pathways and requirements, experience with standardized testing, and ability to work directly with faculty members and students. The Student Success Coordinator is a key member of the campus administration and will have administrative duties.
Strong candidates for this position will possess:
- 3-5 years of documented experience in an urban high school environment, Master’s Degree and/or licensed as a Professional Counselor, preferred.
- Commitment to the mission, vision and goals of the JCFA
- Excellent data base skills and proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of high stakes testing and graduation pathway requirements for high school students
- Must be well organized, maintain structure in approach to completing task, and self- motivated
- Comfortable organizing and leading data driven discussion with teachers to support student achievement
Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)Administrative
- Supports the coordination of orientation events including communication prior to the event as well as delivery of information during orientation
- Coordinates special programming for supporting students and parents with academic assessments and graduation pathways
- Reviews admissions files and participates in admissions interviews, as requested
- Manages Student Information System (SIS) including all academic and behavioral data, and complies and files all SIS reporting required or requested by the state or district
- Provides the State Department of Education with necessary information requested through the audit process; clarifies student information through state error reports
- Creates, updates, and manages the master schedule and individual student schedules
- Maintains student records within SIS and STS, and works directly with the Director of Data, Research, and Curriculum to ensure all state reporting is accurate and completed in a timely manner
Advising, Testing, & Transition Assistance
- Recommends new initiatives to meet students’ needs to facilitate a successful transition into the workforce and/or post-secondary education
- Develops, reviews, and revises student ICAPs (Individual Career and Academic Plans); implements the use of Individual Graduation Plans (IGPs); maintains information through LDE portals
- Monitors and advises students and parents as to progress toward promotion and graduation
- Manages required standardized testing and any training that may be required to prepare faculty to monitor testing; advises parents and students of test results and implications for educational and career planning
- Facilitates cross-enrollment and/or dual-enrollment programs with area colleges and universities; Advises students with college preparation including testing, admissions, financial aid, and scholarships, and maintains the college and career information center
Behavioral/Disciplinary
- Assists with the enforcement of the school’s student behavioral policies including, but not limited to assisting with Personal Improvement Plans (PIPs); assists in the planning, developing, and implementation of individual student behavior plans
- Assists in developing programs to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
- Models and enforces all JCFA policies for students, faculty, and staff, and models JCFA’s expectations and supporting students in meeting those expectations
General Responsibilities
- Promotes an effective learning environment; promotes close working relationships with parents, students, and staff/administration
- Assesses, monitors, and tracks the needs of individual students
- Acts as the CAO’s designee when requested, and maintains a clear line of communication with the organizational administration as that designee reporting all concerns and opportunities in a timely and effective manner
- Attends faculty and staff development meetings set by the CAO and the organization
- Additional duties as requested by JCFA Administration
