Fall Creek is creating a world with better blueberries through its friendly, collaborative team spread across the globe. To help us accomplish this, we are seeking a qualified Applied Research Lead. This position will be located in Lowell, OR.
The Fall Creek Applied Research Lead is an agronomist or related areas with some experience in field management or technical support, desirable in berries crops. The Regional Applied Research Lead reports directly to the Global Applied Research Manager, works directly with the global R&D team, and collaborates closely with the Commercial Team in the Region.
What you'll do at Fall Creek:
- Design, Plan, coordinate, and collaborate on horticultural experimentation.
- Establish and coordinate internal and external advanced selection and new variety trials nationally and internationally.
- Subjective and quantitative data collection on advanced selections and new varieties at internal and external research locations.
- Statistical analysis of global phenotypic data to provide certainty in the decision-making process.
- Conduct genotype, environment, and management system-specific research based on the specific needs of the Commercial team.
- Share collected data and material on new and established varieties to Applied Research manager and local sales team.
- Shares the collected observations on selections to Applied Research Manager and Breeders.
- Routine reporting of research results to various audiences.
- Collaborates in the writing and updating of technical marketing materials.
- Collaborates with the Commercial team for the continuous training of its members.
- Collaborates with the breeding team to help them identify the variety needs of production areas.
- Develop strong knowledge of the breeding pipeline to support the breeding team with selection advancement.
What you bring to Fall Creek:
- Agronomists/horticulturalists with at least 3 years of experience in horticultural management
- Meticulous and organized with data, desirable knowledge in statistical analysis.
- Good written and oral presentation skills in English.
- Independent and Autonomous person

- Experience communicating with growers.
