The Tulane Clinical Neuroscience Research Center (CNRC) is recruiting a Medical Research Technician to assist with operations in the laboratory. The primary responsibilities of the Medical Research Technician will be to help to achieve research goals for defined projects in regular consultation with the Principal Investigator. She/He will design and spearhead specific projects, including the selection of appropriate methods, the application of rigorous techniques and documentation, and the organization of the results in the preparation of scientific publications or grant proposals following the highest ethical standards. Excellence in standard laboratory techniques (cell culture, DNA and protein electrophoresis, immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, etc) and a strong work ethic are expected. In addition, this person will manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory including overseeing students and staff, ordering of necessary supplies/reagents, and management of laboratory finances.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree
Two years of research experience
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES TYPICALLY NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
- Performs other laboratory tasks as, assigned using specific laboratory equipment.
- Responds to issues in the lab as needed, consulting with PI as necessary.
- Lab maintenance- trouble-shoots issues with equipment, and performs repairs when able and appropriate.
- Monitors the lab’s safety regulation, and immediately notifies the PI and/or other senior staff of potential safety issues.
- General lab cleaning, assists post docs with lab experiments
- Provides oversight for management of animal colony
- Tracks animal numbers
- Ensures that DLAR policies are followed

Pay: $37,000.00 - $41,000.00 per year
