The Animal Care Technician will provide daily husbandry, monitor the health, production, and physical environment of rodent models housed at the CooperSurgical (CSI) Vivarium. These environments may be individual ventilated cages (IVC) or barrier rooms. Duties include daily observation, feeding and watering, sanitizing and/or sterilizing animal cages and equipment. May assist in the collection of biological samples and administration of hormonal injections. Receives and stores materials/supplies as well as maintains animal records.

The Animal Care Technician is responsible for the daily husbandry and mating of mouse models that supply embryos to the bioassay testing laboratories. These embryos are required to conduct the bioassays necessary for the routine lot testing/release of CSI products.
Education:
- High school graduation diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
- AALAS certification at the ALAT or above preferred.
Experience:
- 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
- Thorough knowledge of the handling and care of lab animal species, particularly murine species.
- Ability to complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
