Position Summary
The Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) supplies essential support to staff Case Managers and active program participants throughout the flow of care. Working in collaboration with program Case Managers, CRS staff respond to police and partner notification for on-scene in-person screening activities, input relevant screening data to PA WITS, support and inform the development of comprehensive Recovery Service Plans, manage a caseload of active program participants and provide ongoing recovery navigation and support services.

Recovery Support Peer Worker Values
Recovery Oriented: Peer recovery workers hold out hope to those they serve, partnering with them to envision and achieve a meaningful and purposeful life. Peer recovery workers help those they serve identify and build on strengths and empower them to choose for themselves, recognizing that there are multiple pathways to recovery.
Person-Centered: Peer recovery support services are always directed by the person participating in services. Peer recovery support is personalized to align with the specific hopes, goals, and preferences of the individual served and to respond to specific needs the individuals has identified to the peer recovery worker.
Voluntary: Peer recovery workers are partners or consultants to those they serve. They do not dictate the types of services provided or the elements of those recovery services that will guide their work with peers. Participation in peer recovery support services is always contingent on peer choice.
Relationship-Focused: The relationship between the peer recovery worker and the peer is the foundation on which peer recovery support services and support are provided. The relationship between the peer recovery worker and peer is respectful, trusting, empathetic, collaborative, and mutual.
Trauma-Informed: Peer recovery support utilizes a strengths-based framework that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety and creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment.
Duties & Responsibilities
1.) Maintain an active and professional relationship with all program stakeholders and service providers, including effective collaboration with the particpant’s care team, receiving referrals and communicating the status of program particpation, care coordination and navigation, for each participant referred.
2.) Respond on-scene to assist law enforcement personnel with the placement and coordination of services for individuals in the community.
3.) Utilize WITS data entry within the scope of core job duties, as well as at the direction of Case Managers and Directors.
4.) Follow a timely schedule of communication with Program stakeholders and particpants, initial meetings with new participants, ongoing recovery supports consultations, and guided completion of each individual’s identified goals.
5.) Utilize appropriate Screening Tools, as well as other identified Programmatic Tools, to identify the needs, goals, and action steps of each individual, as well as to determine a necessary Level of Care. CRSs will facilitate behavioral health Evaluations through referral, when behavioral health treatment services are indicated.
6.) Coordinate behavioral health services and ancillary needs-based services.
7.) Utilize RED Cap database to keep accurate and detailed records of each individual’s received services, coordinated services, relevant legal documents, relevant releases of information and consents, Recovery Plans, and any other appropriate documentation.
8.) In collaboration with the particpant’s care team, provide ongoing recovery systems navigation and support services, including facilitating transfer to higher or lower levels of behavioral health care as needed by the individual.
9.) Participate in Community Trainings and Educational initiatives at the direction of the DSP and Project Director.
10.) Adaptablity to developing program needs, referral processes, and on call rotations as identified per program need.
Education & Experience
- Certified Recovery Specialists must maintain active CRS certifications through the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Additionally, candidates will have an active driver’s license, strong interpersonal skills, dynamic communication skills, and be comfortable and proficient in the use of computer software applications.
- Knowledge and experience with EMRs (preferable, not required).
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
