JOB DESCRIPTION
The Optician creates value in the lives of our patients, develops and maintains a positive and productive retail-selling experience that ensures premier consultative patient care while maintaining sales behaviors/goals. Makes recommendations based on their optical knowledge for the best solutions for our patients needs. We value fostering growth and developing our teams to reach their goals from training and developing our staff at all levels from those focused on sales associate positions to optician career paths or management futures.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Looking for an engaging associate with the ability to provide an excellent customer service experience for our patients while utilizing optical selling skills.
- Overall: General retail tasks, open/close the store, maintain clean environment, operate cash resister, assist patients. Check in doctors patients, help them with their selection of glasses/contact lenses, fit and sell merchandise. Checking eyewear for optical quality and standards, troubleshooting patients glasses, and recommending the best product for each Rx and patients needs.
- Demonstrates product knowledge in a manner to help patients explore possibilities.
- Models the connection between exam and sales experience.
- Fills ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fits and adapts lenses and frames.
- Ability to understand and explain patients insurance benefits as well as bill claims.
- Provides enthusiastic and concise communication to meet/ exceed patient expectations as well as foster positive partnerships with peers, management, doctor and support staff.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Optical experience required, License preferred
- Looking for someone responsible, punctual, good ethics, and time management skills
- Ability to demonstrate an exemplary commitment to provide exceptional customer service/sales
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task; ability to respond flexibly in a quickly changing environment
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
- Ability to manage priorities through adaptability, willingness to take calculated risks and follow-up
- Ability to sell through use of sales skills and accountability for sales results
- Ability to demonstrate the knowledge of basic phone and math skills
- Sound judgment
