POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Cost Analyst is responsible for ensuring data integrity for job costing, conducting market price analysis for job quoting, and providing insightful analysis for post-job cost reviews. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond timely to customer and business needs.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Data Integrity for Job Costing: Work closely with Supply Chain, Product Development, and Finance teams to review cost data assumptions and figures needed for job quotes. Work with Supply Chain, ensure that input material costs reflect any changing conditions. Input cost data into quoting model. Regularly audit cost data to identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors.
Market Price Analysis for Job Quoting: Work with sales and product development teams, identify, where possible, similar previously completed jobs to new job(s.) Analyze historical profitability information to provide pricing guidelines for new job quotes. Collaborate with sales and project management teams to ensure accurate and competitive pricing for each project.
Analysis for Post-Job Cost Reviews: Analyze actual project costs against quoted costs to identify variances and potential action items to improve, where appropriate, against expectations. Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings to management and project teams. Analyze profitability by customers, product forms, and other appropriate segments. Prepare and present to senior team.
Other Responsibilities: Prepare department cost analysis for department leaders. Provide variance analysis for leadership team review and improvement. Other financial impact analysis, as identified.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous Related Experience Required:
Proven experience in cost analysis, job costing, or related field in a manufacturing business.
Experience in pharmaceutical and dietary supplements is a plus but not required.
Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant analytical tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge
Working knowledge of Safety in the workplace Rules and Regulations preferred.
Working knowledge of cGMP’s, a plus.

Capability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and legs.
Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs. above shoulders occasionally, reaching above the head occasionally, stooping occasionally, twisting occasionally, and bending at the waist occasionally.
INDIVIDUAL SPECIFIC JOB TASKS
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to reduce cost.
Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
