Staff Network Engineer (cross-section of relevant skills):
- Practical experience related to LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, DMVPN, VPN, and high-availability/multipath/redundant routers, switches and firewalls in large 5G wireless provider network environment.
- Support network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VLAN, TCP/IP, MPLS, Segment routing, IPv4, subnetting, routing.
- Familiarity with these technologies is a plus: Cisco ASA, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco ISE.
- General technical knowledge of Cisco networking technologies and platforms, including NCS, ASR, ISR, Nexus ACI/APIC.
- Experience with network configuration automation (Scripting with Pearl/Python/Bash), SD-Access, and DNA Center a plus.
- Experience with AWS infrastructure a plus.
Project Implementation:
- Provide advanced technical leadership for complex project work.
- Work with various teams to gather requirements, create specifications, and design solutions for 5G wireless network projects.
- Supply advanced technical direction and leadership to the junior members of the 5G wireless network engineering team.
- Provide hands-on implementation and ongoing care and maintenance for network projects.
- Develop implementations in a lab environment to prove out design specifications according to a test and validation plan.
- Maintaining daily operational responsibility for the reliability of the 5G wireless network.
- Monitors ongoing availability of network services and processes via tools such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure applications and Solarwinds Orion.
Network Operations:
- Follow necessary processes to ensure 5G wireless network systems and services meet an operational uptime of 99.95%.
- Conducts advanced Service provider network-level performance tuning as well as network performance audits regularly.
- Maintaining daily operational responsibility for the reliability of the 5G wireless network.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of network services and performs network testing and evaluation testing regularly.
- Conducts advanced service provider network-level performance tuning as well as network performance audits regularly.
- Monitors ongoing availability of network services and processes.
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco routers and switches (Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS).
- Validate that customer network configurations are functioning per designs by validating log flows, event threshold settings, and alarm notification settings.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer/Network Engineering or related field; ten years as a data network specialist in a medium to large service provider or enterprise network; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of network monitoring and performance tools such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Wireshark, SolarWinds, etc.
