FLSmidth in South Sioux City, NE is currently looking to fill positions for a Grinding Technician. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Insure safety on all projects, reporting all near misses & accidents.
- To drive to and from work sites, load and unload equipment.
- Establish and maintain a professional working relation with the Grinding Supervisor and customer.
- Understand all other services and products that the company offers.
- Install construction frames and set up grinding machines in the most efficient and safest manner.
- Machine the tires and rollers on different rotary equipment as specified in proposals in a manner that maintains high quality standards.
- Make necessary roller adjustments to control the axial thrust of the rotary equipment.
- Maintain a working inventory of all parts so replacement can be made in a timely fashion.
- Communicate with the office and Manager on a consistent basis or when a need arises.
- Complete required paperwork for each project on a timely basis.
- Get trained on the process and progress to a supervisor level.
- Assist and take an active part in the research and development of better grinding processes, equipment improvements and additional services as outlined by the Grinding Manager and Grinding Supervisor.
- Maintain the company truck and trailer if provided for the travel and business needs.
- Maintain the grinding machines and carry out maintenance as per the defined schedule.

- Maintain open communications with: Grinding Supervisors as well as with the Project Manager.
Educational qualifications :
· High School, relevant mill wright / machinist certification or related field experience as maintenance technician / machinist.
Related experience & Skills :
- Work experience is result of working in heavy construction or working with heavy industrial equipment maintenance.
- Willingness to travel and work with a team of professionals.
- Have prior experience with grinding techniques will be an added advantage.
- Should have an excellent driving record.
Physical Demands:
- Requires working outdoors in hot and cold environments.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Working 10-12 hours a day.
- Climbing of stairs and/or ladders.
- Reading and comprehending.
- Travel by both driving truck and trailer and air.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Work Environment:
- General industrial environment. Occasionally extreme environments (outdoor, hot, cold, dusty, greasy, grimy, etc.)
- Working around operating rotary kilns (furnaces) with high radiant heat.
- Some sites require special PPE such as respirators.
- Travel (35-38 weeks/ year) for periods (2-4 weeks/ trip) to customer sites throughout US, including occasional international travel.
- Must be ready to travel in short notice.
