We are seeking a Chef for our senior living community in the Bridgeport/Decatur, Texas area. The Chef is responsible for developing a positive, safe work environment for all employees to grow and serve our senior residents. Responsible for fiscally sound food service operation that produces well balanced, home cooked/scratch cooking, while staying within the assigned budget. The desired Chef will be a high energy, team oriented, inspiring leader who will build outstanding working relations with the management team. The Chef is also responsible for cooking during shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee 3 meals daily for community residents.
Develop menus and provide recipes to Cooks.
Respond to resident comments/complaints and address concerns.
Oversight of all kitchen and dining room employees and policies.
Knowledge of food service and safe food handling practices.
Maintain safe, sanitary, clean and organized cooking area.
Inventory and ordering of food and non-food supplies.
Supervisory responsibilities.
Must demonstrate a caring personality with excellent listening skills.
General knowledge of kitchen maintenance.
Must understand emergency procedures, as well as familiarity with MSDS procedures.
Follow all OSHA, Fire, Health Department and safety requirements.
Must demonstrate high standards of ethics and personal accountability.
Regular attendance is required.
A passion for helping seniors.
Skills/Qualifications
Must having experience managing the food service department in a senior living community.
Ability to provide leadership for food service department, train and develop staff in cooking and management skills.
Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of staff, including hiring, training, and disciplining as needed.
Ability to prepare menus and recipes.
Current ServSafe Certification
Minimum 3 years’ food service managerial experience.
Ability to use math to calculate recipes.
Competent in organization and time management.
Ability to work under stress and work independently.
Must have skills necessary to prepare dishes for specialized diets if needed.
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively with residents, families, guests and co-workers in English.
Must be computer literate.
Push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs.
