Job Summary/Objectives:
The Brand and Content Manager is responsible for all communications and promotions surrounding the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers member and non-member stakeholders. This includes internal and external communications, informational and promotional material production, website and social media maintenance, and event operations. The Brand and Content Manager will drive revenue and brand awareness of the society with timely, effective marketing to current members and new outreach plans to attract other non-member professionals to engage with ASFMRA events and education.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Create and Publish Original Content
- Write and publish a minimum of 10 pieces of original content through multiple channels, including member spotlights and industry-related articles
- Produce a minimum of four video or audio pieces of content to distribute through multiple channels
- Identify and amplify external content relating to the activities of members
- Serve as Staff Liaison for the Editorial Task Force that cultivates the annual Journal of the ASFMRA, and assist in its production by securing copy editors and placing the digital publication online
Manage Society Website, Social Media and Mobile App
- Maintain and enhance usability and engagement on ASFMRA website and social media channels
- Cultivate new job and internship postings on website job board
- Monitor and generate growing participation on the member discussion board, AgProLink
- Promote use of ASFMRA mobile app and keep it up to date through updated posts, push notifications, and aesthetic changes
Oversee Production of Marketing Printed Materials
- Identify need for and execute production of marketing flyers, pamphlets or other direct mail or promotional pieces
- Orchestrate the creation of event marketing and branding elements such as banners, programs, tablecloths, directional signage, etc.
- Procure promotional/giveaway materials for events and VIP stakeholders
Manage Marketing, Advertising and Vendor Budgets
- Execute social media marketing campaigns, and assist in the maintenance of search engine marketing campaigns
- Negotiate with outside publications and influencers for content or advertising rights
- Manage graphic designer, printer and promotional product vendors
Oversee Audio/Visual Operations at Large Events
- Outline A/V needs for two major events per year, including sound, projection screens, microphones, internet requirements, and staging materials
- Create visual presentation elements for presenters such as PowerPoint slides and/or videos
- Write and distribute scripts for all speakers at one major event
- Act as showrunner and producer during events, serving as primary liaison with on-site A/V vendors and the hotel/venue
Serve as Support for Mass Email Communications
- Assist in development of content for and publishing of multiple eNewsletters targeting various audiences
- Help in marketing educational offerings with targeted email campaigns featuring geotargeting, A/B testing, and other segmentation techniques
- Coordinate with volunteer leaders to promote Chapter offerings to relevant stakeholders
- Work with Senior Director of Operations to produce a marketing calendar to maximize communication reach and effectiveness
- Publish one-off messaging when needed, particularly surrounding governance or membership requirements
Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:
- Four-year bachelor’s degree
- 3 years of experience in the marketing or communications department of a small- to mid-sized company. Previous experience with an association/non-profit preferred.
- 3 years experience with the following tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office; Constant Contact (or similar); Hootsuite (or similar); Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Illustrator; HTML; Facebook; Twitter; LinkedIn. Knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Business/Ad Manager, CSS and Java preferred.
- Willingness to independently explore and recommend changes to current protocols or procedures
- Comfort in communicating verbally and through written language to a variety of stakeholders, including Executive Council, volunteers, members, staff, and non-members
- Desire to seek out trackable SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) to make strategic decisions
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions:
- 85% in-office, with 5% travel and 10% work-from-home
- Minimal extended or weekend hours required, primarily surrounding two major events each year
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and eye strain may be required based to complete computer-based tasks
- Lightweight lifting and other physical exertion may be necessary for in-office and on-site event tasks
