The Roseburg VA Health Care System (RVAHCS) is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity level three organization, consisting of a medical center located in Roseburg, OR, two Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Brookings and North Bend, OR, and the Eugene VA Health Care Center in Eugene, OR. The Roseburg campus consists of 114 acres and 42 buildings. (RVAHCS) offers primary care, surgical services, skilled nursing and rehabilitation care, and mental health inpatient and outpatient services. Specialty services not provided by (RVAHCS) are offered through the Portland VA Medical Center or in the communities in our primary service areas. (RVAHCS) also operates the Downtown Eugene VA Clinic, consisting of a Homeless Program, Homeless Housing Program with the Department of Health, and Human Services (HUD/VASH), and Substance Abuse and Vocational Rehabilitation services.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Providing Employee Occupational Health and Wellness (EOHW) services, such as but not limited to, immunizations for influenza, surveillance, wellness, employee injuries, and scheduled physicals, or an environmental situation that results in increased employee and volunteer assessments.
- Providing clinical care to employees and volunteers for any work-related illness/injury occurring at this facility, so they may better serve the employees/volunteers.
- Collaboration with the EOHW providers, the Urgent Care, Human Resources, Center for Development and Civil Engagement (CDCE) Manager, Infection Control, the Health Promotion/Disease Prevention Coordinator, and other local and facility resources as needed.
- Responsible for pre-employment screening, incumbent annual health evaluation and immunization, post-exposure counselling and treatment, evaluation and reporting of employee work related injuries and illnesses (OWCP), maintenance of employee health records, and employee health and wellness programs.
- Responsible for some components of Case Management for the employees and volunteers with work related illnesses, injuries, and exposures in coordination with Human Resources.
- Responsibility for compliance with applicable VHA Directives, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, Joint Commission (TJC) standards, VISN and local policy, and other related documentation and guidance.
- Provides expert consultation to supervisors, employees, Center for Development and Civil Engagement (CDCE), and leadership, with respect to Occupational Health programs.
Additionally, the following services are incorporated and includes:
- Providing medical surveillance annually to those employees who are deemed appropriate to be in the surveillance programs
- Vaccinating and testing all new staff/volunteers against several infectious diseases
- Conducting new employee physicals for those new hires who meet certain criteria under hiring guidelines
- Coordinating employee wellness activities to include marketing, development, implementation, and evaluation.
