There is a great opportunity to provide education of substance use prevention in the Dekalb county area. Main tasks: Delivery of substance abuse prevention programs such as an education workshop at a community event.
Providing services in schools in the community that focus on child and adolescent substance abuse; Cultivate community support for CED programs. (Examples of tasks: provide presentations to interested organizations, distribute information on drug use in the Dekalb county area, attend meetings on substance abuse prevention, etc.)
This position's standard hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 to 4:30. This position will need to be available some after hours and weekends as needed to accommodate scheduled community events.
POSITION TITLE: Prevention Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS: The Prevention Specialist has to meet at least one (1) of the following criteria: Education (Bachelor's degree), experience and/or certification requirements of the Prevention Director as outlined in standard 580-9-47-.02(2)(a)(3); be certified as an Associate Prevention Specialist by an independent certification board offering a credential approved by the Alabama Department of Mental Health
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the coordination and provision of the day-to-day Prevention and Consultation and Education (C&E) activities. Provides direct contact hours for assigned groups. Able and willing to participate in some strenuous outdoor and/or athletic activities. Assists the Prevention Coordinator in promoting and developing activities for the program, and working within the budget of Prevention Services. Provides accurate and complete documentation. Assures compliance with all DMH/CED and other applicable standards and policies.
