Position Title: Cloud Data Platform Administrator Sr
Location: Remote
Department: Data Platform
Salary: $125,000-$150,000
General Summary:
The Cloud Data Platform Administrator Senior will be part of the Cloud Data Platform team within the Enterprise Data Services department. This role is responsible for coordinating operational tasks among Cloud Data Platform Leadership, Engineering, Analytics teams, and customers. The position involves leveraging software engineering principles to automate data infrastructure operations, managing Azure Data Infrastructure and Services, and administering the Snowflake data platform with a focus on security and efficiency.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Azure Services Management:
- Manage Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Databricks, Key Vault, Azure Blob storage, and Azure DevOps.
- Handle security access and user management.
- Automate operational tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps CI/CD tools.
- Snowflake Data Platform Administration:
- Manage and secure access with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
- Conduct onboarding/training sessions for platform users.
- Develop solutions to monitor performance and cost of cloud-native technologies.
- Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
- Troubleshoot issues with on-prem tools and cloud services.
- Conduct log analysis and postmortems.
- Design monitoring solutions for data engineering activities.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work with infrastructure, network, database, application, and analytics teams to ensure high availability.
- Implement and support enterprise security standards.
- Propose and build monitoring tools to optimize performance and meet job SLAs.
- Provide feedback and guidance on cloud use cases.
- Escalate support issues with internal teams and third-party vendors.
- Participate in rotational on-call duties to support production environments.
- Team Contribution:
- Share knowledge and experience to enhance team capabilities.
- Assist team members with production issues and communicate with stakeholders as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in SQL and data warehousing.
- Understanding of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) security model.
- Knowledge of distributed computing technologies like Spark, Impala, NiFi, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Snowflake.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps/GitHub.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies and file formats like Parquet, AVRO, ORC, CSV, JSON.
- Ability to communicate complex information effectively.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Cloudera CDH/CDP, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks.
- Knowledge of Azure networking concepts.
- Understanding of healthcare HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Expertise with Git, DevOps, CI/CD.
- Snowflake administration and automation experience.
Education and Experience:
- Required:
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 2+ years of experience with Azure/AWS or GCP cloud.
- 2+ years of experience with Snowflake.
- 5+ years of professional experience with enterprise on-prem IT assets or cloud experience.
- 3 years of relevant DevOps or DataOps experience.
- 3 years of experience managing security access.
- Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
- Performance tuning in Big Data environments.
- IaC development with Terraform.
- Snowflake or related database administration.
- Experience in the healthcare industry.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
- Preferred:
- Azure Certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104)
- Azure DevOps Certification (AZ-400)
- SnowPro Snowflake
- SnowPro Advanced: Administrator
- Hadoop/Big Data/Databricks Certifications
