Job Goal:
1. Responsible for administration of the district’s network systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks, VoIP phone system, data communications systems, Internet access, and all network-connected devices and software.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in a computer networking field or valid technical certification in networking (Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+ equivalent or higher) in lieu of degree
2. Minimum three (3) years of network-related work experience, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position; technical experience in the education sector preferred
3. Strong technical knowledge of networking operations and network performance analysis skills
4. Hands-on technical troubleshooting experience
5. Experience in network planning, installation, and administration of local and wide area networks
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
1. Assist with network design and implementation.
2. Install and configure network equipment.
3. Maintain network connectivity to endpoint devices.
4. Provide network support to users.
5. Maintain network hardware, applications, services, and settings.
6. Manage physical and cloud network storage.
7. Develop and monitor policies for the use of network resources.
8. Establish and maintain appropriate backup and disaster recovery procedures.
9. Monitor, evaluate, and optimize network performance.
10. Analyze and remedy connectivity and functionality problems.
11. Create and maintain network users/permissions.
12. Test release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility.
13. Create technical support documentation for network systems and applications.
14. Collaborate with district and local school personnel to provide high-level technical support for local and web-based district network systems.
15. Support and maintain district network systems.
16. Serve as technology project manager when needed.
17. Assist with inventory and tracking of district technology equipment.
18. Troubleshoot and resolve network and security issues.
19. Document warranty, downtime, and maintenance notes in a systematic manner.
20. Maintain confidentiality of all information according to school board policy, state and federal guidelines.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. Manual dexterity is required. The employee must be able to communicate orally. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Salary: Salary is determined according to the current Limestone County Board of Education salary schedule.
