Federal Hill House – Summer Jobs Program for Youth Ages 14-22
Federal Hill House will provide developmentally appropriate job placements for youth ages 14-22 that will provide youth with real-world work experience, develop their 21st Century Skills, and prepare them for future positions in the public, private or nonprofit sectors.
Youth will have the opportunity to work four or five days a week over a five-week period, for up to 120 hours, and will be paid $15 per hour. Work Experience placements will begin the week of July 15. All activities will be completed by August 23. Schedules will vary within the 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. work day depending on the position, program needs, and participant availability. All interns must complete hiring paperwork and background checks (as applicable), and obtain working papers if needed.
Work Experience positions include:
- Food Pantry Host – welcome guests, help guest shop for food, provide customer service
- Food Pantry Stocker – receive food shipments, restock shelves, pack produce, break down boxes, maintain clean space
- Youth Development Counselor (ages 16+) – support summer camp staff with supervising campers, leading activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, chaperoning field trips, and providing a positive role model for children
- Early Childhood Teacher Assistant (ages 16+) – support Early Learning Center teachers and assistants with engaging children in play, learning, and back and forth communication.
- Senior Center Host – help senior center team host older adults in exercise, wellness, meals, and activities.
- Volunteer Coordinator – help volunteer coordinator recruit, schedule, and support volunteers
- Data Assistant – help enter food pantry and senior program data into database, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality; help guests complete enrollment paperwork as needed
- Playgroup Assistant – support Providence Talks team with setting up playgroups, engaging with children and families during playgroup, and cleaning up. Support recruitment as possible (attending events, etc.)
- Business Office Assistant – help with filing, organizing, data entry, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 25 per week
