Job Focus: Hybrid Church Growth - Technology and Digital Innovation Strategic Planning and Implementation
Hours: Approx. ~ 25 hrs/wk (part-time, hourly)
Compensation: $25,000 - 28,000 annually
Qualifications: A love and desire to serve Jesus Christ in all that you say, do,
and create and a willingness to follow and support the Presbyterian Theological
Framework of the PCUSA. The A/V & Media Specialist position requires an
individual confident and familiar in audio mixing, camera operation, digital
design, and video/audio production in both live and film settings. This
individual should possess a proficiency in music production with highly
technical equipment with at least 1-3 years experience preferred in a professional
setting. Insight into knowing how to mic instruments, singers, organs, and
choirs is helpful to the position. Experience in video production is also
preferred (1-3 years minimum). Applicant should know how to use FCP or Adobe
and be able to produce videos in both live and cinematic settings in a timely
and efficient manner. Familiarity in PTZ, camcorder, and cinematic camera
operation is desirable for the position. The position will be essential in
moving our content to a hybrid in-person and digital framework. Experience in
website design and authoring is a plus but not required.
What you can expect doing this job: Workingunder the supervision and direction of the pastor, you will coordinate all multi-media functions for the church. Individuals interested in this position are those who are seeking to serve God with their talents in audio engineering/mixing and digital media creation. Applicants will enjoy the fun and fast pace of the A/V booth in the Sanctuary, while balancing time in the interim with film development and media creation. Individuals enjoying teamwork with volunteers and working with congregants to highlight ministerial efforts and capture events, such as with youth, is a fun component to the position.
Job Responsibilities: The A/V & Media Specialist oversees and manages all A/V-related needs, media equipment, and volunteers for worship and other worship-related activities.
This individual will grow into this new position, leading the systems and strategies for developing all church and ministry audio, video, and lighting. Responsibilities include the maintenance and/or replacement of media equipment and working with the Stewardship committee for budget approval.
The A/V & Media Specialist will also be responsible for photography, video, and content that is developed for the website and social media. This position will work with church staff and support all ministries with their graphic design, social media management, website management, and special promotional development needs.
Attend weekly staff planning meetings for weekly worship, special services, and/or special events, providing cohesive communication and implementation of A/V-related needs of expertise.
Supervise social media content development and schedule posting with the Office Administrator and Director of Christian Education (DCE) and Worship Committee as needed. This includes video blogs, engaging digital content, etc. Coordinate the maintenance of website content alongside guidance and facilitation of committees and staff. Work with DCE to sustain website growth and engagement for hybrid church.
Weekly Duties
9am-5pm Sunday: Pre-worship setup, operate worship, serve youth and other after church activities.
12–8 p.m. Wednesdays duringSpring and Fall: Serve afterschool program (Sept-May) from 2-6, Advent/Lenten study filming (6-7), Choir Rehearsal (7-8).
Other hours as needed per week.
Technology Oversight and Operation
● Develop and maintain budget and proposals for new equipment as needed, working under the oversight of the Worship & Stewardship Committees.
● Responsible for the proper use of all technical booth equipment, including any maintenance or replacement of equipment as needed.
● Manage and update the current inventory of photographs, videos, and other media that
capture the church’s vision, mission, and values.
● Update and grow YouTube and social media material and engagement following ethical social media standards.
● Work under the Worship Committee for Sanctuary video lighting and stage presentation,
musical staging for audio enhancement, and optimized camera placement per worship needs.
● Work alongside the DCE & Technology Committee Head to design, update, and maintain the website & app.
● Optimize website for engaging hybridization of content to aid engagement of congregation and community with services and content digitally (forums, vlogs, digital
materials, etc.)
Videography and Photography
Worship: Work with the Choir Director and Pastor to coordinate, grow, and lead volunteers each week to develop professional and consistent service in weekend worship and events. Film, mix audio, set lighting, and present worship materials weekly via presentation software. Film, edit, and produce videos for worship as required, such as announcements or special worship materials, to grow the hybridization of church services.
Education: Work with the Director of Christian Education to film, edit, and produce video blogs (seasonally - advent/lent), social media ads/updates (weekly), youth events, VBS (1 week a year), mission trips (2 weeks a year), etc. Work to grow program awareness in our community and with a hybrid engagement. Capture youth, children, and nursery engagement for web and marketing needs.
Administration: Work alongside the Office Administrator to produce digital materials for the hybridization of media and marketing materials as needed in social and digital channels.
Serve/Outreach: Work alongside the Serve Committee to capture and promote outreach opportunities and to capture events as they occur to inform the congregation and community through video highlights.
