Part-Time Congregate Dining Site Coordinator (Yorktown) - Meals on Wheels South Texas
Reports to: Director of Operations
Summary: The Part-Time Congregate Dining Site Coordintaor plays a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Yorktown congregate dining site. The position involves engaging with clients and ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for them to enjoy nutritious meals and social interaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage site operations, including set-up, meal service, and clean-up.
- Supervise volunteers and ensure adherence to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols.
· Manage inventory, ordering, and storage of supplies.
- Greet and serve clients with courtesy and professionalism.
· Foster a welcoming and social environment for seniors to enjoy their meals.
- Coordinate activities and other services at the site.
- Communicate effectively and build positive relationships with clients, volunteers, and Meals on Wheels staff.
· Promote the site and Meals on Wheels services within the community.
- Maintain client intakes and accurate records of meals and attendance.
- Other duties as assigned or become apparent
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with the public; experience working with older adults a plus.
- Ability and willingness to learn various software programs and accurately input data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially in relating to older adults.
· Ability to supervise and coordinate volunteers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain client and agency confidentiality.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Current Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
- Must pass required criminal and motor vehicle background checks.
- Compassion for seniors and a desire to make a difference in their lives.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Work is performed in a dining room environment that may be noisy and have frequent interruptions.
Employee will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. Employee will also sit, bend, twist, climb, and squat while performing duties.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability required to frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting Pay: $12/hour; around 20 hours/week (9:30-12:30 3 days a week; 9:30-2:30 2 days a week)
15 days PTO first year
