POSITION PURPOSE: To perform diagnostic and imaging procedures, according to established standards, with optimum quality and high level of professionalism.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for all radiographic duties in Center. Maintaining equipment and performing quality checks and all other radiographic regulatory duties.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
CLINICAL ACTIVITIES
Exercises competence, expertise, compassion, and assistance while directing patient through diagnostic procedures.
- Prepares equipment and work area expediently.
- Ensures that patient has followed pre-exam protocols.
- Explains procedure thoroughly, and answers questions prior to exam.
- Performs all responsibilities with a minimum number of errors.
- Provides accurate and quality MRI’s/CT’s in conjunction with radiologist specific and routine procedures.
- Administer contrast to patient when requested by physician.
- Follows established infection control practices.
- Administer sedation to patients when requested by physician.
- Observes patient and machine during procedures; reports unusual occurrences and records patient’s condition.
- Develops films in accordance with proper techniques.
- Correctly marks and labels films.
- Correctly labels folders and inserts and applies appropriate stickers to folders.
- Maintains an orderly work area.
- Maintains stock items in assigned work area.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Promotes continuous improvement of work place safety and environmental practices.
- Performs other duties as required.
PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES
These activities are everyone’s responsibility. Actively participates as evidenced by:
- Understanding of Center’s Performance Enhancement Program.
- Understanding of the performance enhancement process.
- Completes Opportunity for Performance Enhancement Form when as opportunity is identified. Makes sure that there is appropriate follow through.
- Participates in Performance Enhancement Team Projects as appropriate.
- Completes assigned monitors in a timely and accurate manner.
- Keeps up-to-date with Center’s Performance Enhancement activities.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Maintains active professional relationships with patients by assessing needs and levels of satisfaction with Center services. Demonstrates a positive, friendly, and courteous manner. Identifies opportunities to enhance the services provided by the Center as shown by:
- Reports all inefficiencies, deficiencies and unusual occurrences to General Manager.
- Serves as a role model to other staff.
- Maintains confidentiality on matters to which they are privileged.
EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT
Demonstrates ability to supervise, orient, and coach nursing staff as evidenced by:
- Ability to take charge of department when called upon.
- Explains policies, procedures, and methods to staff who do not understand.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new employees, or employees in a new position.
RESOURCE AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Ensures adequate supplies, medications, and equipment as evidenced by:
- Coordinates appropriate use of material resources being mindful of budgetary constraints.
- Without exception no missing or unaccounted for controlled substances and controlled substances are accounted for in accordance with procedures established by Medical Director.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Complies with the State and Federal Rules and Regulations by:
- 100% of unusual occurrences or regulatory concerns are reportedto the General Manager within 24 hours of discovery.
- When patient injury or disaster occurs, the General Manager is notified immediately.
SAFETY
Maintains nursing area in safe condition as indicated by cleared hallways, secured electrical wiring and removal/reporting of broken equipment promptly. Adheres to all facility safety regulations and guidelines regarding client safety as evidenced by:
- Identifies, corrects and reports unsafe conditions immediately.
- Monitors client safety and identifies, corrects and protects client from harmful / unsafe conditions.
- Attends monthly safety meeting (12) as evidenced by attendance record.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in hospital, operating room, or surgery center nursing care. Effective communication skills. Effective positive interpersonal and customer relations skills via telephone and face to face interaction. Displays positive attitude towards other employees.
Education/Experience:
Must have completed and received certification from a two (2) year AMA approved school of Membership is local, state, and national professional societies is preferred.
License/Certification Required
CCRT Certification required
CPR Certification required
Physical Requirements
- Capable of heavy work with walking and frequent lifting of 50lbs associated with occasional lifting of clients and/or equipment.
- Spends 60-70% of time walking, standing or sitting while working with patients.
- Requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, and reaching to check or move equipment and assist surgeons, patients and staff.
- Must be able to speak and hear clearly.
- Must be able to write and record numbers, transcribe physician orders, and accurately read labels and instructions.
- Ability to key at computer terminal.
- Ability to perform CPR.
- Accommodate occasional frustration and anger on part of patients, families, physicians, and fellow nursing staff.
