We are seeking an experienced Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide medication oversight, support, training, and case management for clients with severe mental illness.
- Document medication changes and client responses, and guide non-licensed mental health staff as needed/
- Act as the liaison to the pharmacy to ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications. Develop and maintain relationships to ensure smooth medication cycles and promptly address any program-related issues.
- Review new intake assessments and collaborate with intake personnel on medical-related matters and referrals for detailed information when necessary.
- Assist non-licensed staff in handling medical attention, laboratory work, medication administration, and crisis intervention.
- Conduct training sessions for non-medical staff on medication-related topics
- Assist clients and staff in implementing self-administration practices for medications and health management and adhering to the 7 rights and the Agency’s policies and procedures.
- Perform COVID testing when needed.
- Lead, coordinate, and support psychiatric and medical appointments, including telehealth sessions with consulting psychiatrists. Maintain regular communication with consulting doctors and act as the primary liaison
- Coordinate off-site laboratory work as ordered and administer injections on-site as prescribed.
- Provide health-related resources and support to enhance client wellness.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
- Collaborate closely with directors to foster effective teamwork, clear communication, and precise implementation of instructions within the multidisciplinary team.
- Lead and facilitate medication and health-related group sessions to educate clients on medication adherence, health management, and strategies for wellness
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited California nursing program.
- Current LVN/LPT California License.
- Minimum two years of experience, with at least one year working with clients with mental health issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR/BLS certification.
- Ability to give injections.
- Understand medications including psychiatric medications.
- Sensitivity to persons struggling with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring disorders.
- High ethical standards, reliability, and flexibility.
- Ability to work independently, under minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
- English proficiency required; Spanish proficiency preferred but not required.
- Must pass a background check and have a clean driving record.
