This position is responsible for properly receiving, logging, sorting, preparing, tracking, date-stamping, numbering, and scanning annual water use reports. This position reviews water use reports for possible address changes and screens for ownership changes. This position completes worksheets so address changes may be entered in the WRIS database and sorts potential ownership changes into a central location for later processing by environmental scientists. This position sorts and mails original water use reports to appropriate field office for permanent filing. This employee must maintain composure and accuracy with the data. Work is discussed with supervisor regularly as the processing of water use data carries on throughout the year.
This position is partially responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of scanned images for the Water Appropriation Program, which consists of more than 32,000 active files. This position is also responsible for scanning and electronically storing documents into Docuware to ensure the images and document storage systems are current, accessible, useable, and accurate for the benefit of all users. Work is periodically reviewed by the supervisor for quality control purchases.
This position is responsible for answering the main DWR incoming phone line, processing DWR incoming and outgoing mail, tracking incoming and outgoing mail in spreadsheets, collecting fees associated with the water appropriation program, and tracking these collections on spreadsheets. This position will be cross trained with our New Applications admin to ensure our department has coverage during normal business hours and to be able to process water appropriation admin tasks across the division.
This position assists with delinquent water use notices by preparing the notices for mailing to water users; copying, scanning, and routing the copies to appropriate field offices; and by logging notices mailed and information returned. This position assists with database maintenance by entering file numbers associated with payments received for water use penalties.
This position performs other general clerical duties as assigned with the assistance of established procedures or general guidelines from the supervisor. Once proficient, the employee in this position will have the opportunity to undertake additional duties as desired including but not limited to data entry into WRIS, cross-training, and organizing and establishing quarterly training for administrators across the division.
Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
- Infrequent instate travel for short periods, including overnight, may also be required.
- Ability to extract, analyze, and complex technical information from a variety of sources is preferred.
- Good written and verbal communications skills are strongly preferred.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Employee must have a valid Class C (or higher) Kansas driver’s license or equivalent license from another state. Employee is responsible to maintain an acceptable driving record to safely drive state vehicle and be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.

Pay: $37,989.00 - $41,787.00 per year
