Job Summary:
The Warehouse Service Technician performs dual functions. Primarily, the technician is responsible for troubleshooting, assembling, and maintaining machinery, both in-house and at customer sites. This role involves significant mechanical and basic electrical work, coordinating with various departments, and maintaining accurate records in the ERP system. The position requires local travel to service equipment and deliver products. Additionally, the Warehouse Service Technician supports warehouse operations as part of the warehouse team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in pallet wrappers and strapping machines.
- Perform basic maintenance on DACO equipment and dock equipment as needed.
Assembly & Installation:
- Assemble new machinery and equipment.
- Utilize forklifts and hand tools for lifting and assembling machinery parts.
- Drive company vehicles to deliver machinery products and equipment to customer sites.
Documentation & Communication:
- Document equipment information and parts used in the ERP system.
- Communicate with customers, customer service, purchasing, sales, and the fab-shop regarding service updates, parts, and custom needs.
- Record service hours and utilize electronic service forms.
Warehouse Operations:
- Inspect, receive, store, and ship products.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the workspace.
- Count and put away incoming products.
Safety & Compliance:
- Follow safety standards and procedures, including using proper PPE.
- Operate a forklift and other machinery safely.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
Technical Skills:
- Basic electrical knowledge (AC/DC, using a multimeter).
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to use ERP software, Microsoft Outlook 365, Word, and Excel.
Communication:
- Professional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with various departments and customers effectively.
Problem Solving:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess problems, recognize deficiencies, and implement solutions.
Teamwork:
- Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse associates and other departments.
Safety:
- Knowledge of safety standards and the ability to demonstrate and follow safety procedures.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Willingness to learn about machinery and service procedures.
- Moderate aptitude and understanding of mechanical and electrical components.
- Experience working on machines and electrical devices (e.g., appliance/machine repair).
- Valid driver’s license and insurance for traveling to customer sites.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with warehouse and industrial/commercial settings.
- Customer service experience.
- Programming/instrumentation (PLC) background or experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to type on a keyboard, operate a computer mouse, and see a computer screen
- Ability to operate a phone and listen carefully to others on the phone.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs Ability and perform physical tasks (walking, sitting, bending over, pulling).
