An established nephrology medical practice is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (MA) with Administrative Duties. This position will be for 25 to 38 hours per week (Average 32 Hours/Week).
Sample Office Hours (Approximately 32 Hours):
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (30 or 60 Minute Unpaid Lunch - your preference)
Friday: 8:00 to 12:00
Saturday/Sunday: Closed
The Main Office is located on Southpoint Parkway across from St. Vincent’s Hospital-Southside. However, the incumbent must be flexible to work at the following satellite clinic locations several times per month depending on patient scheduling and coverage needs (Currently, only 4 Days Per month at satellite locations):
- Dunn Avenue & I-95. (2 days per month Average)
- Norwood Avenue & I-95. (2 days per month Average)
The individual is expected to have a very reliable transportation to be able to come to work at the various office locations every day on time.
The job includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
Medical Assistant Duties (When patients are scheduled in clinic)
- Welcome patients and foster good patient and referring provider relationships
- Check in patients and take vitals (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, etc.)
- Take patient's medical history and enters data in EMR (eClinicalWorks)
- Collect co-pays and outstanding balances at time of visit
- Assist physician in the exam room
- Schedule patient's next appointment
- Assist physicians with a broad spectrum of daily medical office tasks as required
Administrative Duties (On Days when we don’t see patients or between appointments)
The position is responsible for administrative duties including the following:
· Schedule new and follow up patients
· Confirm upcoming patient appointments and ensure we have lab results
· Obtain pre-authorizations (when needed)
· Send patient statements and/or medical records
· Assist Billing Specialist in logging insurance and patient payments in eClinicalWorks (scan received payments into the EMR)
· Coordinate with referring providers and obtaining patient data sheets from hospitals
Mandatory Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Minimum of 2-years Medical Assistant and direct patient care
· Minimum of 1 years of Administrative Assistant in a Medical Office Experience
· Medical Assistant Education/Certification
· Strong computer skills (Microsoft Windows and Apple/Mac Operating Environments)
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs Excel, Word, Email (Outlook), Internet Portal.
· Fast data entry (Must type at least 60 to 80 wpm – Will be tested!)
· Electronic Medical Record experience specifically with eClinicalWorks (Required)
· Patient referral and schedule coordination experience is required
· Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to communicate with all Insurances such as, Medicare, Medicaid Private Pay and Third-Party Insurances on a daily basis
· Patient Insurance Pre-Authorization and Co-Pay Processing
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the willingness to interact daily with patients, other physician offices, and insurance companies.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
· Experience in an Internal Medicine, Nephrology, or Specialist Outpatient Practice
Compensation and Time Off:
Hourly Rate is $16.00 to $18.00 commensurate with experience
7 Days Paid Holidays Per Year
5 Days (40 Hours) Paid Time Off Per Year
This is a drug-free workplace. Candidate must pass drug screening and background check. References are requested to verify medical practice experience. The position is available immediately. Interviews will be set up first with the Practice Administrator and then with the physician.
