Summary:
The Nurse Administrator is charged with documenting, attending to, and educating for the health and well-being of the students, faculty, and families. The Nurse’s O?ce is a space for care and compassion, as well as record keeping, minor first aid, medicine distribution and overseeing sick children. The Nurse Administrator is responsible for developing emergency care plans and individual health plans. The Nurse Administrator will be integral to ensuring compliance with the laws and school best practices relating to student health in a growing school. Essential work will also include building and maintaining con?dential student health records using an integrated software system. The Nurse Administrator will provide health information and serve as a resource to students, parents, faculty, and administrators.
Primary Job Duties, Responsibilities and Activities:

This is a school yearposition (mid-August through mid-June). Work Hours are M-F 8:00am-1:30pm.

Provide healthcare, and administer ?rst aid, to students and faculty when necessary

Research, develop, and document new and existing health policies.

Train designated faculty members on nursing office procedures and policies.

Dispense medications, and develop medication protocol to safely store, administer, document, and monitor the e?ectiveness of medication given at school and on field trips

Assist designated staff with communications on community and/or student health updates, bulletins, and information with faculty and families.

Prepare and maintain health records of students. Create student health plans to help faculty meet the health needs of individual students.

Oversee the administration of mandated screenings (e.g., vision, dental, hearing, SafeGuard Surveillance, etc.) and health-related training (e.g., Safe Schools, CPR, etc.) as delegated by the manager for the purpose of referring medical conditions and/or providing appropriate care.

Maintain and update, as necessary, the student health records portal (Magnus). Train designated staff on the use of Magnus as directed.

Other duties as directed related to the Nursing Office and community health.

Prepare and maintain classroom first-aid kits
Knowledge-Skills-Competencies:
-
Knowledge and expertise in pediatric allergies and chronic illnesses, including the creation and implementation of treatment plans in a school setting

Experience in operating equipment used in clinical settings

Experience in operating standard o?ce equipment including using pertinent software applications, speci?cally an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system; Magnus Health knowledge a plus

Knowledge and ability to tailor a new EHR to the needs of the school

Experience preparing and maintaining accurate records

Personable, warm, and approachable demeanor is a must
Requirements:
- Quali?ed candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and a minimum of two year’s experience as a nurse and/or school nurse.

School Nurse Certi?cation PEL-CSN a plus.

First Aid, CPR and AED certi?ed (quali?cation to train faculty preferred).

Physical strength to independently lift up to 50 lbs.

Fluency in written and oral language in English.

Ability to oversee and ensure the safety and well-being of children in the nurse’s o?ce and the school.

Ability to document and train designated staff on policies and procedures of the Nurse’s Office.
