BASIC FUNCTION/DUTIES:
This position is responsible for ensuring residents and guests are served in a friendly, courteous, helpful, and professional manner. Perform a variety of duties in and around the dining area.
- Follow and maintain all sanitary guidelines according to Company policies and state and local regulations
- Make resident satisfaction the number one priority
- Take orders, deliver order to kitchen, and serve meals to residents, family members and visitors in a timely, professional, dignified, efficient and courteous manner
- Assure compliance with all proper serving techniques/etiquette (e.g., serving from the left, clearing used dishes between courses, etc.)
- Review sign out sheet for residents who have signed out and will be absent from the meal
- Prepare and ensure the dining room is set up and ready for each meal, including performing necessary cleaning and stocking (salt shakers, pepper shakers, sugar bowls, condiment holders, etc.) and setting tables
- Ensure that residents and guests are served according to the Community’s Culinary Services’ guidelines
- Ensure that residents receive meals according to their special therapeutic diet guidelines. As necessary, document and communicate all dietary refusals on the appropriate forms and to the Culinary Director
- Assist residents with menu selections as needed
- Track residents’ attendance at meals, following policy and procedures for notifying of absences from meals
- Deliver meals to resident apartments as required, insuring documentation of tray service
- Check dining room stock and nourishments. Pull old items and restock as necessary.
- Maintain clean, well organized coffee and juice bar
- Clear tables of dishes during/after meals; clean tables and chairs, remove table clothes after meals, and pick up/clean up floor areas
- Return all dishes to the kitchen following meal times
- Report equipment or environmental safety issues to Culinary Director
- Assist in the kitchen, as needed, with meal preparation which could include sandwiches, salad and/or salad bar preparation and dessert plating
- Cooperate to get work done and is flexible with daily schedule
- Assist in food inventory and/or wash dishes when needed
- Assist in breaking down deliveries and put stock away following in appropriate places (dry storage, refrigerator, freezer, etc.) after delivery
- Clean serving carts and trays after each meal
- Display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, families and visitors
- Provide support to community’s sales efforts through positive/friendly interaction during all property tours and telephone contact with the public, as directed by a supervisor
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests, following established safety standards and by promoting safety in job function and carrying out duties in a safe manner
- Communicate any observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately
- Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments
- Assist and help out when other team members might be behind in their daily tasks
- Support a positive and professional image through actions and being properly dressed in uniform, always wearing a name badge
- Document in log book any significant incidents
- Report any injuries immediately to a supervisor
- Attend and participate in scheduled in-service programs, training programs and staff meetings
- Perform all duties to exemplify and champion Oaks of Bensalem’s Vision and Intentions.
- Empty and clean dining room trash receptacles and replace liners
- Do not have overtime unless pre-approved by supervisor
- Routinely punch in and out timely using the correct codes (where applicable) and following the procedures correctly
- Follow all reporting procedures including abuse, neglect, and resident and family complaints
- Is self-directed to complete work timely, efficiently and effectively
- Demonstrate compassion and concern for overall well-being for all residents and is empathetic of their needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $9.00 to $10.00 /hour

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
