The San Diego Unified School District is currently recruiting Paraeducator - Independence Facilitators (PIFs) to provide instructional classroom and program assistance in a variety of settings throughout the district. Below is a brief overview of how to become a PIF employee (substitute or monthly) with the San Diego Unified School District.
Paraeducator – Independence Facilitator (PIF). Follow these steps to become a PIF:

- Meet Minimum Qualifications
- 48 units of college coursework (or)
- HS Diploma (plus)
- Passing score on the online SD City Schools Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE).
- Candidates who do not have at least 48 units of college coursework will be emailed a link to take the CAPE exam.
- All required documents (proof) must be attached to your application to meet the minimum qualifications

- Regular Employment
- or to
- Substitute Work
- as a Paraeducator-Independence Facilitator (PIF)
