James River Cardiology is expanding our Nuclear Medicine Department and looking for an experience Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team!
Schedule: Full Time (Monday - Friday)
Expected Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm (adjusted as needed for lab coverage)
About the Role: We are currently seeking to hire a candidate for a position as a full time Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our busy cardiology practice. This candidate will be working in our Nuclear department, providing PET/CT scans at our Colonial Heights Office. There will be the expectation for this role to cross train in SPECT imaging.
The applicant will be responsible to prepare and position patients for scanning, prepares, measures and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic studies, performs cardiac nuclear medicine studies, cardiac position emission tomography (PET) and cardiac computerized tomography (CT) examinations of patients as requested by referring physicians.
Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the PET/SPECT cameras to obtain high quality images based on clinical protocols as directed by our on-site physicians.
You will perform patient care during the scan as well as be responsible for the isotope dose administration, maintaining the hot lab, ensuring that patient imaging and all clinical procedures are performed with high standards, while assuring compliance with all regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Examine patients and their medical records
- Supervise non-invasive stress testing
- Ensures proper safety standards are met.
- Operates required equipment necessary to produce scans using established guidelines and protocols.
- Willingness to continue gaining knowledge and clinical experience
- Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations
- Training of new staff as applicable
- Other Nuclear team duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an approved nuclear medicine program
- Must be certified by or eligible for the nuclear medicine technology certification board (NMTCB)
- Must be American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certified, ACLS preferred.
- Should be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Practice Management Systems
- Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, and reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive)
- Ability to work well with others in a professional manner in a team oriented environment
- Must have excellent communication and relationship skills to build trust with patients, referring providers and the community
- Possess excellent clinical skills, strong ethics and favor an independent setting
The locations are we provide PET/CT and SPECT are:
Ashlake (Ashlake Parkway), Colonial Heights (Charles Dimmock Parkway) and West End (Discovery Drive).
Some travel may be required to cover these locations as needed for staffing and call outs. Travel would be on a coordinated schedule and Technologists would only provide care at one location per day.
