Occupational Therapy Assistant
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our team in providing exceptional home care services to patients in Florida. As an OTA in home care, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to implement personalized treatment plans aimed at enhancing patients' independence and quality of life in their home environments.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with licensed occupational therapists to conduct initial assessments of patients' functional abilities, cognitive skills, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs and goals.
- Provide hands-on assistance and guidance to patients in performing therapeutic activities and exercises aimed at improving mobility, strength, coordination, and sensory integration.
- Educate patients and their families on adaptive techniques, equipment use, and environmental modifications to promote safety, independence, and participation in daily activities.
- Monitor patients' progress and response to treatment interventions, and communicate findings to the supervising occupational therapist and other members of the healthcare team.
- Document all patient treatments, interventions, progress notes, and communication with healthcare team members accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physical therapists, speech therapists, nurses, and home health aides, to coordinate care and maximize patient outcomes.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of therapy equipment and supplies, and maintain a safe and therapeutic home environment for patients.
- Adhere to all regulatory standards, policies, and procedures governing occupational therapy practice and home care services.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state of Florida.
- CPR certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an OTA, preferably in home care or a related setting.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and modalities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant technology.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to patients' homes within the designated service area.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, client-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or similar credential.
