Overview:
The responsibility of the Generator Salesperson at Power Zone Equipment is to execute the sales of the new and used generators that Power Zone Equipment deals in. At times the Generator Salesperson may be called on to execute sales of the other items Power Zone Equipment deals in, including used equipment, surplus equipment, basic manufacturing projects, industrial services, rentals and equipment parts. It is also to assist in the purchasing of used and surplus inventory.
Primary Functions of this Position:
· Manage website inquiries and keep contact with each prospective customer.
· Create professional, formal quotes of equipment, parts and services and send quotes to customers in a timely manner.
· Cold Call and perform proactive sales work to potential customers. This includes researching upcoming projects and industrial action and keeping a current knowledge of the market conditions.
· Assisting the internet marketing team and web development team with information and content.
· Continually be on the outlook for used equipment being offered and assist in coming up with a reasonable offer for the equipment. At times, be the main point of contact when negotiating a purchase.
· Continually be on the lookout for inaccuracies in the equipment inventory and database and work with the team to correct as needed.
· Perform basic sizing and application engineering for the equipment being quoted.
· Work with application engineers on sizing of technical systems. Utilize 3rd party assistance when internal help is unavailable.
· Work with vendors to obtain quotes of equipment.
· For project sales, create an estimated Bill of Materials to be used as a budget guide if the sale goes through.
· Procure long lead time, major equipment for a project (often needed prior to the project entering the flow of production)
· Keep an in-depth knowledge of Power Zone’s capabilities and expertise.
· Act as a liaison between the customer, management and the service department in the case of a warranty claim.
· Direct used equipment inspections that are performed by the production facility and give clear instruction on what the scope of the inspection should be.
· When applicable, perform basic equipment measurements and visual inspections without assistance from the production shop.
· Visit potential customers as needed.
· Attend trade shows as needed. (Power Zone does not frequent shows often)
· Responding to walk-in potential customers.
· Utilize the Equipment Available Data Base (equipment that we don’t own) to broker equipment deals when internal inventory isn’t sufficient.
· When applicable, coordinate the shipping/delivery of the equipment, parts or service.
· Reporting sales progress at sales meeting.
· Ensure that each sale reasonably maximizes profit
· Work with accounting department to ensure that all sales are correctly invoiced.
Requirements:
· Be willing to work consistent hours (start and end times to be determined) and available via phone call when absent.
· Be available throughout the weekend and evenings for related sales calls. This requirement is rare, but occasionally, communication with overseas client must be done in nighttime hours due to time zone differences.
· Have a basic knowledge about electrical and mechanical equipment.
· Have professional PR skills in regards to dealing with customers.
· Be profit driven and able to find the best balance between profitability and customer satisfaction.
· Be goal oriented and able to estimate reasonable sales and revenue goals.
· Have basic computer skills.
· Be willing to travel, including public transportation and air travel.
Other Responsibilities:
The primary functions and requirements listed above are the minimum requirement of the Generator Salesperson and are not all inclusive to what may be required. At times assistance will be needed in other departments. Power Zone is a small company and requires each of its employees to move around and assist where needed. Every employee must be flexible and able to accept tasks that are not on his or her job description. These requirements are generally short term and temporary, but occasionally extend to longer periods in the case of an extended market down turn, position vacancy, cross training, etc.
Optional Valued Skills:
Although the following skills are not required, they will be valued and utilized in the Solar Salesperson position:
· Be able to speak Spanish.
· Have technical knowledge and experience with pumping systems in particular
· Be skilled with Excel spreadsheets.
· Possess a passport and able to travel internationally
Compensation & Benefits:
· Range of $45,000 - $60,000 base salary per year PLUS
· Tiered commission ranging from 2% to 7% based off of Net Profit of each generator sale PLUS
