We have been a pioneer of advanced fertility treatments with several firsts including:
- Brooklyn's FIRST In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure and birth
- Brooklyn's FIRST successful Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT) birth
- Establishment of the FIRST egg donation program and birth from donated eggs in Brooklyn
-Establishment of the FIRST oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing) program and birth from frozen eggs in Brooklyn
We are looking for a full time Patient Assistant who takes pride in their work and thrives from a fast-paced environment, executing accurately and efficiently, no matter the task. In this highly sensitive medical specialty, we are looking for someone who makes our patients feel welcome and taken care of while maintaining a high level of medical care and patient satisfaction!
Job Title: Patient Assistant (Medical Assistant)
Reports to: Director of the Practice, Physicians and Nurses Coordinator for clinical matters, Practice Administrator for administrative matters.
Responsibilities: Assists physicians in providing care. Participates in all activities aimed at a timely and efficient provision of care.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greets patients and schedules appointments for ancillary services, as needed
- Interviews patients, collects and records information, registers vital signs and draws blood
- Manages record appropriately: ensures results are available for follow-up visit, keeps track of abnormal lab results, documents tests requests and results
- Pulls and files charts back as needed
- Triages phone calls and reports to providers
- Assists providers in delivering care
- Assists surgeon during oocyte retrieval and carries oocyte to the embryologist from the operating room
- Assists the physician performing the retrieval with the operation of the ultrasound control panel during surgery
- Prepares heating blocks and tubes prior to surgery for oocyte retrieval
- Monitoring of heating block temperature, as well as suction readings during oocyte retrieval
- Monitoring and care of the patient during recovery after oocyte retrieval
- Cleans instruments used in providing patient care, ensuring proper sterilization
- Ensures readiness of examining room: cleanliness, availability of supplies
- Provides appropriate medical instructions and counseling to patients
- Prepares patients for monitoring according to physician orders
- Provides training to patients and educates them regarding IVF, ovulation induction, oocyte retrieval and embryo transfer procedure
- Calls back patients to follow-up on results and treatment in a timely manner
- Follows up on no-shows
- Performs other duties as requested
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keeps track of inventory and orders supplies
- Ensures cleanliness of sonography equipment
- Prepares surgery packages
- Accurately completes disability forms

- Interacts with patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a considerate, helpful, and courteous manner
- Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural differences
- Displays a positive attitude within the department and across departmental lines in support of Kofinas Fertility Group’s programs and mission
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate goals and objectives
- Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information
- Presents neat appearance in proper attire and identification as required by position and company policy
- Fosters mature professional relationships with fellow employees
Educational Requirements: Associate's degree, diploma or certificate in medical assistance
**Must be able to accommodate some late shifts throughout the work week**
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
