Overview:
Under the general direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, reviews intake packet, determines and refers participants to appropriate behavioral health care providers. Ensures timely review of packet and timely placement and delivery of behavioral health services to individuals with developmental disabilities and a co-occurring mental health condition. Works in collaboration with service providers to ensure a high level of satisfaction with services provided. Works in partnership with the community to build capacity and establish access to care for the participant and community.
This is a hybrid position with an office hub in Whittier.
Hiring Range: $74K - $100K
Responsibilities:
- Assesses and evaluates participants with a neurodevelopmental disability for co-occurring mental health concerns for behavioral health services.

Completes intake process and clinical evaluations to establish baseline for outcome measures; therapeutic alliance and treatment progress indicators.

Identifies and refers the participant to appropriate behavioral health services and providers within the participant's community.

Evaluates the consumer for overall wellness from a biopsychosocial perspective quarterly, using measurings like the PERMA+ profiler.

Independantly troubleshoots and resolves behavioral health provider/caregiver concerns (e.g., communication issues, ensuring participant receives appropriate services and/or level of care, attendance, etc.). This may include facilitaing team meetings with providers and participants.

Creates community linkages by completing outreaches with community behavioral health providers . Evaluates mental health providers appropriateness to expand their scope of practice to serve people with developemtnal disability.

Reviews and evalutes participant assignments to a behavioral health provider and the adequacy of communication to relevant parties (e.g., family, administrative assistant, etc.). Ensures the participants have appropriate access to mental health care and service providers are accountable.

Provides training and on-going follow up with community behavioral health providers, regarding the mental health treatment of people with developmental disabilities.

Participates in all monthly meetings. Conducts corresponding written follow-up regarding the participants perceived benefit from receiving mental health services.

Prepares and reports monthly caseload status including participant concerns and progress, and behavioral health provider concerns.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:

Master’s degree or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in early childhood education/development, early childhood special education, special education, behavioral health, psychology or related field.

Current Board of Behavioral Sciences License as LFMT, LCSW, or LPCC and 5 years post licensure. May also have a Board of Psychology License as a licensed psychologist.
EXPERIENCE:

Five or more years of related professional experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, severe mental illness, substance use, trauma, homelessness, and justice involvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Knowledge and understanding of diverse mental health treatments and interventions, including dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment theory, interactive behavior therapy, trauma-informed care, trauma integrated therapy, applied behavior analysis, family therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, expressive therapies, positive psychology, and risk management as it related to suicidal and homicidal ideation/behavior.

Advanced knowledge of scientifically validated methodologies and approaches found to benefit individuals diagnosed with Developmental Disability and Mental Illness. Familiarity with current related research findings.

Expertise in all empirically evaluated assessment and intervention strategies related to program and service delivery for individuals with dually diagnosed with developmental disabiltiies and co-occuring mental health conditions.

Strong clinical, administrative, and leadership skills. Case management experience required.

Able to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.

Able to interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations.

Ability to maintain customer service orientation and professionalism in all interactions.

Ability to communicate effectively, through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. Must relate well to children and their families and maintain positive affect.

Ability to exercise discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and related computer software.
