Clinical Coordinator
Qualifications: Experienced RN, LVN or MA.
Work Expectations: Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to interface with ART team, Primary Physician, and Supervisor
Reports to: Primary Physician, Supervisor, and IVF Nurse Coordinator
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities* (in coordination with assigned physician)*
- Adhere to HRC Policies & Procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Provide support to nurse coordinators in maintaining HRC customer service image.
- Coverage for physician when nurse coordinator unavailable.
- Assist physician with office procedures.
- Diagnostic and monitoring ultrasounds
- Diagnostic procedures
- Egg Retrievals
- Embryo Transfers
- Meet with cycling patients to give/review instructions.
- Work with patients to maintain effective communication.
- Coordinate and maintain effective individual, team and practice site patient flow, i.e. appointments, teaching and scheduling.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout facility.
- Set up equipment/room/procedures
- Perform procedures
- Venipuncture
- Start IVs (licensed/certified personnel) and management of IV therapy
- Administer medication.
- Maintain patient/couple medical records, including consents and authorizations.
- Maintain SART worksheets.
- Provide patient education and health teaching as appropriate, including injection technique.
- Adheres to pre-arranged work schedule to provide clinical coverage.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist physician in providing informative and effective communication with patient/couples.
- Scheduling procedures, tests and office visits
- Pre/post operative surgical teaching; surgery coordination
- Pre/post operative embryo transfer instructions
- Confirm that patient/couples have appropriate medications/prescriptions.
- Follow-up communication with patient/couples as to test results and medication adjustments.
- File normal lab results in patients’ charts.
- Report abnormal results to primary physician.
- Provide coverage for other nursing team during vacations or illness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Because the Clinical Nurse Coordinator functions as the circulating or scrub nurse when needed, she must meet the physical requirements for those positions. These are:
- Vision within normal limits with or without corrective lenses
- Hearing within normal limits with or without hearing aids; consideration may be given to individual with partial hearing loss provided she can demonstrate the ability to receive, interpret and act on instructions given by normal speaking voice.
- Normal foot/leg motor skills; consideration may be given to an individual with a leg brace or prosthesis provided she can demonstrate the ability to move smoothly and rapidly within the operating room environment and carry out the duties of the position and those of circulating and scrub nurse.
- Occasionally must be able to bend and stoop and to lift and carry loads up to 25 pounds
- Understand and carry out all functions of the position
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing
- The position is not suitable for an individual with a physical or mental condition that subjects her to sudden lapses of consciousness and/or seizures. Consideration may be given to individuals with such conditions provided it can be verified that the condition has been well controlled without significant occurrence for a minimum of the 24 months preceding application. If hired, such individual shall be required to notify their supervisor immediately of any change in this condition.
