We are currently recruiting for an Accountant to join our Finance team.
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the financial health of the company through meticulous cost analysis and accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Accounting:
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems to ensure accurate cost allocation for products and projects.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, labor, and overhead to provide detailed cost reports and variance analysis.
- Work closely with operations, sales teams and copackers to monitor and control production and purchasing costs.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
- Support the Financial Accountant in the preparation of management reports and financial summaries.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing cost data and financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Monitor actual expenses against budgeted figures and report variances to management.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct periodic inventory counts, and reconcile discrepancies.
- Analyze inventory valuations and ensure proper costing methods are applied.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in managing cash flow by monitoring and reporting on outstanding receivables and payables.
- Compliance Support:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting regulations.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
- Stay current with industry best practices and accounting standards to ensure ongoing compliance and optimal financial practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and sales, to gather necessary information for accurate costing and financial reporting.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the CPG industry.
- Proven experience in cost accounting and financial reporting.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, cost accounting, and financial reporting standards.
- Familiarity with inventory management and ERP systems. (SAP B1, Wisys preferred)
