Pay Range: $100,000 - $142,000
Job Summary: The Advanced Development Manager is responsible for management of the NPD Advanced Development (AD) team, whose function is to develop, evaluate, and make ready for manufacture new innovative technologies in support of the product development process. As a stakeholder in the Advanced Development Process, this position is responsible for maintaining the Advanced Development One List and for maintaining the integrity of the Advanced Development stage gate process. In addition, this individual will be a subject matter expert for AD with regard to the front- end innovation process. Mentor, coach and train AD associates.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:
- Manage the day-to-day activity AD team
- Key stakeholder in the execution, adherence and evolution of the Advanced Development Stage Gate process
- Serves as technical lead in critical AD projects
- Key TSI interface when developing new technologies with suppliers. Plan and lead key meetings with suppliers when developing new technologies for TSI bedding products
- Lead ideation sessions as required
- Maintain responsibilities in AD Engineering capacity for critical to success projects
- Work with marketing to develop technical briefs for vetted concepts to enter in the AD stage gate
- Embed consumer insights into the Advanced Development process working with marketing to insure insights translate correctly into product features that deliver real benefit to the consumer
- Other duties as needed to support overall strategy and success of Advanced Development process
- Provide, mentoring, coaching and training to junior members of the AD team
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical, Textile, or Industrial Engineering (or other related Engineering discipline)
- 10+ years of experience in an engineering or operations organization delivering and maintaining consumer products
- 5+ years of experience in advanced development, innovation or new product development
- Diverse product-driven industry background a plus
